Someone Called Me Strong Today...

I've been going through a lot this year, 2014 hasn't been the easiest ride for me academically and even socially and I say this, yet I wouldn't trade this year for the world. I have grown this year spiritually, mentally and philosophically; my trials and tribulations have made me stronger. In an ocean full of problems my great friend Savannah Harriot, had the audacity to call me strong... and here was my response.
 

 I wouldn't say I'm being strong.

It's more like a concoction of helpless

optimism and higher knowledge 

that believes nothing happens by

accident. Nothing is an accident,

everything has a reason. I am so

over joyed when I have absolutely

no reason to be. It is just in my

 nature to laugh at my pain until it

doesn't hurt anymore. This had to

happen, this is apart of my success

story. It's my journey, not

everybody gets the fairy tale

ending, but everybody gets a role

in this live play called Life.

Resentment

I felt like I had recited
Shakespeare to a deaf man.

Or


Showed a classic painting
to a blind man.


So maybe that's why you
couldn't appreciate it.


Human's are always quick
to set the blame but this
time I'm to blame.


I should have never said
"I love you"

The Prodigal Queen

Why would want to be called                                                                                        
the "baddest bitch"? 
                                                            
Does that make sense to you?


So your mother laboured and gave

It hurts to love someone that doesn't love you back; it feels like salt being poured on an open wound... it burns! But when you pluck up the courage to move on, that's when the object of your desire starts to show love. UGH!!!

Did you know if heaven

was a country your laugh

would be it's national anthem?

Your laughter opens heaven's gate.

If my days on this Earth's crust were over and

 yes I'm purely sober. I would

heavens gate and ask you

Heaven's gate would open

and I would run inside and hide.

My crime?

I had spent all my time procrastinating

and thinking about you.

I worshipped the ground

should have read the red as danger

 because I'm an illegal immigrant in heaven.

The ray of light that radiates

from your smile punches

my ribcage.

I find myself in a theatre

with no stage with

convincing actors dressed

 in white coats like doctors.

Loving you hurts because it's unrequited.

I'm doing all that is required, to

make this love work. I'm

loving enough for two. I'm

loving you and for you to

love me back. It's a lot

to hack.

Did you know I'm not going

to stick around forever?

Oh so all of a sudden you

care and show it by giving

me a cold stare.

I'm in HELL because of you!

I'm being torn, ripped and

shredded which is no

different to how I feel in

this relationship.

I need to get off this ship!

Hop on a Speed boat

and drive away from you

never to look back in case

I turn into a pillar of salt.

To the Guy at the Bus Stop

Do you believe in love at first sight or do you think it's actually LUST at first sight? Either way being attracted to someone that you have never encountered before in your whole life is something I'm sure every human being has experienced at least once. Well the following poem you are about to read takes that idea a step further.

  To the Guy at the Bus stop        

                           I don't want us to break before we have even started dating.

                    I don't want us to hate each other before we have even liked each other.

           I don't want us to become enemies before we have even become acquaintances.

                    I don't want us to get tired of each other before our first conversation.

       I don't want us to shout at each other before we have even said our first hello to one another.

           I don't want us to separate from each other before we have gotten close to each other.

                 I don't want us to see other people when we haven't even seen each other yet.

I'm just Miss Understood

Have you ever felt like the odd one out. You were not an odd person per se but in terms of those circumnavigating around you, you just didn't quite fit in. There was nothing wrong with you in fact it could be argued the ones around YOU were the ones who were odd. I have always been aware of the fact that I wasn't quite the same as peers in school or just anywhere in general! I always stood out like a sore thumb even though I look no different to those in my midst, I guess it is my strong vibe or aura that exudes independence amongst such dependant people. We are all you unique and special- the same way you don't find two snowflakes the same or two diamonds the same is how you never find two people the same. If you know you're a diamond or snowflake this poem is for you

Do You Like Love?

Music is an international language. It is indispensable, there is a rhythm in our walk, a drum inside our chest that beats life. Music is more than just a marriage of different sounds. To me it's like paint because my imagination gets coloured with places and faces I am yet to see. There is a song to capture every emotion, every event, every evening and every anything. I really appreciate music. Whether it be indie rock, classical, Jazz, Blues, Alternative Rock, RnB or Hip Hop, you just name it and I love it. A song called  "Do you like love" By Miguel inspired me to write this next poem entitled Do You Like Love?

Do You Like Love?

Do you like love?

Wet lips whisper amorous

 affections and cling on to

each other like the way a dying cancer patient

would kiss their lover

because they know their time on Earth is limited.

Do you like love?

Words are not need just

the company of each other.

To hear that quiet

breathing

to hear that soft heart beating

to smell your calone which

seduces me into loving you and scratching tattoos of

passion on your back.

Do you like love?

Which is what I see when I look into those eyes

which glisten against the

night sky.

That shines through the smile that makes waking up more worthwhile. Yes I

thank God for another day

but making you smile

makes the day more

purposeful today.

The Miracle Born Yesterday

I think it is important that as a poet you exercise your mind with the works of other poets especially those who's works are famous and well-established. 2 years ago I was exposed to a poem called "Born Yesterday" Philip Larkin which was written for Sally Amis. To showcase my admiration for his poem I decided to replicate his style with a Jeneotry twist.

For Every New-Born

 Some will wish you long life and prosperity, but I wish you eternity.

May you live each day on purpose with a purpose to make a difference on this place we call Earth.

I pray each step you take on this turf will mean a step closer for this world to meet change.

Take with both hands a range of opportunities that this place in which you have graced can give to you.

I know your a blessing but God bless you and caress you with further blessings you descendant of great love,

peace and joy.

First Poem!

I love the rain! I love the way it impregnates mother Nature who gives birth in the spring. I love his smell! I love the way he clings on to my brown skin for dear life. The rain is the only man I know who isn't afraid to cry. My love for the rain is clearly not a secret anymore and here's the poem I wrote for him.

You baptise the atheists.

You awaken life.

You are the main reactant

in the chemical reaction for

spring.

The seas cannot see a

a future without you and the

oceans cannot imagine

waving good bye at you.

They'll miss you like the

desert misses the rain.

You rejuvenate me!
